  1. (no title) (continued)

In the year of 1880 to Connaught I came in, I left my native Donegal a fortune to win.

    (continued from previous page)
'Tis true I love you dearly but we never can be wed.
My father's lands are mortgaged and for them I am a pawn.
I am plighted to your master and must marry him next fall.
I saw her home that evening and we sadly said goodbye.
She looked quite broken hearted as she passed me by.
I left for Donegal next day with a broken heart 'tis true.
And bade adieu for ever to Caraun and River View.
Now all young men who hear this tale a warning take by me.
Don't be too quick to fall in love when a pretty maid you see
For if you do you'll surely rue the truth I tell to you,
For she'll steal your heart and leave you like the maid of River View.
