- Our churn is a barrel churn and it is built on an iron stand. It is a low churn. It is fifteen inches at the top and bottom. It's sides are round. It holds ten gallons and it is about twenty years old. It is a daisy churn manufactured by Beatty Brothers. We churn twice a week and it is my mother that churns. If strangers come in they help at the churning for fear they would bring the butter. Our churn is worked by the hand and foot. There is a little glass on the lid of our churn and when the butter is made you would see it on the glass. It takes about half an hour to churn.
