  1. I got this account from my mother, Mrs Fahey, Lurgan Aughrim, Ballinasloe. Aged 42 years.
The local patron Saint of this parish was St. Alaghton. It is said that he built a Church where the graveyard is now. This place was called after him. It is called Killalaghton. There was a well about twenty yards from the church but when the land was draining it was smothered. The saints day is not a holiday because we do not know the day. There is a story handed down to us from olden times concerning Killalaghton Church.
