    And I bade adieu to all I knew over in Sweet Galway,
    As I sailed away from Ireland my heart was sad and sore,
    But I made up my mind I'd never die till I'd come back once more,
    That was the thought that cheered my heart as I toiled day by day,
    To make my fortune and get back to old Ireland far away,
    Pretty girls with charming faces I have met quite many,
    But though I've travelled many places I met no one like Annie,
    So now that I've my fortune made its her and I will marry,
    And I'll take her back to Ireland as sure as my name is Larry
    For there is no place like old Ireland no matter where you go,
    So I'm going there with Annie she is the dearest girl I know,
    To my pretty home in Dartfield near the town of sweet Loughres
    There with my charming Annie I always mean to stay,
