Windmills, in Irish mullan gaoithe is so called because it is believed that there was a windmill there at one time. There is a round butt of a circular building in Garavans field yet. Some say it was a windmill others say it was a watch tower.
Ballybrock, in Irish Baile Broch, the village of the badgers.
Oldwalls, in Irish, Sean-bhaile, which really means, Old Village or Old Town.
Rosmindle from the Irish, Rosmindál the headland of the fertile patches.
Rosmine, from the Irish Rosmuine, the headland shrubbery.
Rosehill is the name Sir Samuel O'Malley gave to Gob-Ruadh. Gob-ruadh means the redpoint or headland.(continues on next page)
