    send another to bid you a £1 or £2 less so as to put past your market the way he will get it. And once the dealers bid you there is no chance for you at the market if they want it. There never was any fairs around here on the hillside or crossroads and Derry was only a short way from here. When dealers are buying cattle they always tell the man to hold out his hand and clap it then they go away thinking to get at their own bid come back again and make the man hold out again and give 5 or 10 shillings more and until they have it bought sometimes they go into a public house to pay and they want so much for luck some times they differ over the luck money but at the finish they stand a drink or two. When their man gets the money he counts it and spits on it gives the luck out of it. Some are marked with a little
