- Another Story of Penal TimesNear Cavan there is a rock at which mass was said in Penal times.
Once when a priest was saying Mass there, the English captured him.
They placed him in a barrel and placed a lid on it.
They drove long nails into the barrel.
The barrel was then taken to the top of a height and was rolled down.The nails penetrated the priests body and in this way he was done to death.
The rock is known to this day as the "Priest's Rock"
