    Many stories are told in Ireland, about the Penal times.
    The hardships fell most heavily on the priests.
    Several died for their faith.
    Tradition hands down many stories of those times.
    Our district is poor in knowledge about the Penal times.
    The site of this school was known as the "Mass Garden" before the school was built.
    Mass must have been said here at the penal times.
    A priest was waylaid and killed at Killtown near Killygordon,
    His name was Father O'Kane.
    He was found dead with a nail through his head,
    Bear the school are the ruins of an old house.
    In it lived a old couple who were very bad Catholics.
    So they offered to sell the priest for a bribe,
    The old woman lay down and pretended to be very sick.
    The man went for the priest while the soldiers lay in
