  1. In the year of forty seven when the famine was raging in Ireland there lived in Melmore an old widow woman who had only one son Sheamus.
    This poor woman had no land. Her only support was gathering dulse off the rocks and selling it for a living. Every good day she would go to the strand to pick dulse, and leave Sheamus at home until she would come back. This was going on for years, until Sheamus grew big and became a man.
