- In the Co. Donegal in the town land of Deetnaseet [?] there is an island called Inisheen, and it is told from the old people that pots of gold have been hidden in it. A number of years ago people from the surrounding districts visited this island to look for the gold to take away with them. When these people went in on the island and started to dig for the gold, all the water rose and they had to stop diffing before the water went down. The old people say that a little fairy man is watching it, and when ever any person goes in on the island he starts whistling. It is also said by people of the olden days that the gold has been hidden there from the time of the Danes.
