    Jim Molloy of Clooneen...

    (continued from previous page)
a barrel turned up against the hill to meet him. Jim did not get afraid but he stooped for a stone. When the barrel was within five yards of him he fired the stone at it.
He missed the barrel by inches but when he did he did not stoop for the second but he took to his heels and ran to Swifts. The barrel kept going up the road. When he came to Swifts he shouted and John heard him.
Jim Molloy told him his story but when he did John would not let him in. He turned out to the road again and in the meantime the car that was to take him to the fair came and he saw no more of the barrel.
