  1. The old Irish people had many customs, some of which arose from superstitious ideas, concerning the making of butter, and the milking of cows. The following are a few.
    If a person went into a house and the people of the house to be making a churning, they reckoned that if the person did not help with the churning there would not be half the return in it, and that the person came in to spoil the churning.
