  1. Many of the old trades are still carried on. There were forges which manufactures spades and ploughs long ago, and still continue the same craft.
    Thatching is almost a thing of the past. Not many years ago there were only a few houses and they are not thatched now. Lime is not burned in the kilns.
    People make baskets yet but churn making or barrel making are not continued in this district. Mr Byrne of Berna Virginia Co. Cavan makes baskets and mats. He uses sallow rods and straw. Sallow rods to make
