    east Cavan to the ancient burial place in Kill [?] and was a noted place for the funeral procession to rest. There is another Monument on the roadside in Ballymachugh convenient to Mr. Sheridans "Gate House". It is a Celtic Cross and Flag and bears a striking resemblance to the monuments in our Graveyard of the present day. Another remarkable monument is one situated midway between the village of Mountnugent and Garrysallagh school. It is a large stone of about two ton weight bearing the following inscription.
    "Pray for the soul of Philip McGivney who died in August 1830 at the age of 25 R.I.P.
