    the same name are supposed to have the cure of whooping cough also.
    A person suffering from a stye on the eye can be cured with gooseberry thorns. The gooseberry thorns are gathered and the person who gathers them throws one away and points the other nine to the stye for nine days. On the ninth day the stye will have disappeared.
    Very few people nowadays believe in the local cure for hiccough. The patient answers ''I have'' Then the person says ''So have I'' and makes the sign of the cross on the patients mouth.
