  2. As previously stated in this book a "Pattern" was held annually on August 15th at Kilnahue near Gorey until 1798 : The following verses refer to this.

    There's a little ancient graveyard in a valley near the sea,
    Pregnant with the dust of our forebears,
    Yet I hope that ere it closes there will still be room for me
    When I've jettisoned my load of earthly cares.

    Adventure being the lodestone of my life;
    And to God I'm truly grateful that its not by stranger's hands
    I'll be laid beyond the reach of earthly strife.
