    This day is here called "All Fool's Day".
    Practical jokes are still played on that day but not to so great an extent as long ago.
    A local couplet runs:-
    "April Fool is passed and gone
    And you're the fool that caries it on".
    This is said next day to the person who succeeded in fooling another.
