    Oaten bread was made long ago. It was made with oaten meal and wet with water. It was baked on a gird iron. The people would bake as much bread on a Tuesday as would do them for a week. Wheaten bread was made with wheaten meal and wet with buttermilk it was baked in the oven. It would be left baking for a half hour.
