In a place locally known as the Lower Yard there were four houses. In one house lived Dan Hayes the smith and his family. They all died. In another house lived Donncad Dearg and his wife who died. Next door lived John Forde and his family and they died also. In the big house in the yard lived the former teacher. He afterwards went to live in a house near the school.
This story was told to us by Tim Calnan, Lispatrick.
