that they always made arrangements to keep the fairies from the house on May Eve. He and his neighbours went to the nearest grave yard and gathered there a long weed with a wide leaf. This weed each brought home in little bundles, and tied it outside on the kitchen door, when the wind blew it shook this weed. This shaking of this particular weed frightened the fairies and kept them away from the house. The great value this weed seemed to have for this purpose was that it grew in a grave yard.
