    the old women gets up very early and before they rise any smoke they hurry to a spring well and the first there has a stick a straw rope a stool and a can. She ties the rope to the stick and she sticks it in the ground and she milks away at the rope saying "come all to me" "come all to me" and from that day till the following May the cows give her a can full extra of milk and off that milk she gets the full of a churn of butter.
    If a vessel for gathering milk is washed in a river where fish are, the milk could be churned the whole day and nothing but an old dirty froth gathers on it and the smell of fish off the milk.
    If you are losing your butter a man is sent for called Gillie Brock who lived at the foot of the Bressie Mountains between Belleek and Pettigo and when he comes he puts nine irons in the fire and he closes the windows and the doors
