  1. On the 31st January crosses are made in honour of St. Brigid. The oldest members of the family makes the cross. It is made of straw. First of all two pieces of timber are made in the form of a cross. Then the straw is plaited and woven into the timber. When the cross is made it is put up in the roof of the house.
    St. Brigid's Cloak.
    The red piece of material put on the cow's tail after calfing represents St. Brigid's Cloak as part of it was red.
