    used to be in a corner called the nook. The fire was made nearly always at the gable and sometimes in the middle of the floor.
    The front of the chimney was made of rods and sometimes of stones and plastered with sand and lime. They used to have a hole in the roofs instead of chimneys and the old people remember the fire to be in the middle of the floor.
    The houses had no glass for windows only thin boards and they used to be an inch apart so that the
