    My grand-mother went to the town school and was only in sec(c)ond class.
    My grandfather said that the teachers were paid by the week. He also said that they held classes in the barns and a man (and teacher) taught them. The people paid him a certain amount each week and that was his salary. He only (thought) taught them English
