    made boots, shoes, and clogs and sold them to the people of the village.
    Long ago people wore no shoes until they were going to England or America. When they were going to town they carried their shoes and when they were about a mile outside they put them on. They did this because they were so accustomed to go without shoes that they felt more comfortable without them. The places where they (changed) put on their shoes were called boítre na mbróg or the roads of the shoes.
