    259
My Grand-aunt tells me that there was a battle fought on Kilconnell hill between the Danes and the Irish. In the time of Captain O' Callaghan the people thought to drain the back lake into the front one but the Captain stopped them..During their digging operations at the foot of the hill they found pikes ,helmets, and swords. There are still to be seen the remains of an old fort on top of the hill.
