   A beautiful young lady was getting married to a rich man, and the fairies decided to steal her. The king of the fairies said that when they would arrive at the house he would make himself invisible and stick a straw up the young lady’s nose to make her sneeze, and if nobody said “God bless her” they could steal her away, but if anybody said “God bless her” they could not take her.

   Then the fairies got their little caps and placing them on their heads each said “Capaillín fá mo thón-sa; Fly away cap”, and immediately little horses seated them on their backs, and carried them in an instant to the house of the wedding party. The king slipped into the house, unnoticed, and when they were all dancing round, he stuck a straw up the young lady’s nose, and she gave a loud sneeze. Jack remembering his early lessons, shouted from the top of the house “God bless her”. He was the only one that said “God bless her”. Now the fairies could not take her away and they were very angry with him and were going to kill him. They spared him however, and said that they would now go to the wine-cellar in London and drink enough of wine and return home.

   They had many adventures after that and Jack was with them every time. One night they went to the London wine-cellar and drank a lot of wine. Jack drank too much and he lost his little cap and fell asleep, so the fairies returned home without him. Next morning Jack was found by guards who
