One May Day people take milk, cream or butter from each other for they think they will have the milk of their neighbour the whole year round.

One May Day people take milk, cream or butter from each other for they think they will have the milk of their neighbour the whole year round.
One May night a man waited watching his milk in the dairy and at midnight a hare jumped in through the window and stuck his paw into the milk. The man hit the hare in the leg with a stick and broke it. He followed the hare until it jumped into an old house. He went in after it but could not see anything but an old woman lying on the bed with her leg broken. He asked her if she saw a hare coming in and she said that she did not.
Ever since it is said that it was the woman that changed herself to a hare.
