    meal bread are:- oaten-meal, flour, soda and water added in when kneeding, mix all together and bake on a support in front of the fire. This support is called a "bread-iron" and it is made from thick wire twisted in and out of each other.
    Bread was made every-day in this district except on Sunday.
    Marks were cuts on the top of the cake when made to keep it from cracking.
    Soda bread wad made on special occasions.
    The vessel in which the bread was baked was either a pan, oven or in a griddle.
