    a blue sky for good weather, rolling cloud's for rain, a bright and starry sky for frost, red sky for very good weather and silver clouds for fair weather. The hills seem near ebfore rain.
    If the midges bite it is a sign of rain and bats flying about at night is a sign of good weather.
    Signs seen in the fire or chimney are :- a blue blaze for fair weather and if soot falls it is the sign of rain .
    In some of these there is a little knowledge about the condition of the weather we are going to have, but it is very little as the majority of them are only omens.
