When people are calling the calves, they say "suck, suck, suck." When they are driving the cows the say, "hoh, hoh, hoh." When they want the cows to go slow, the say "chay, chay, chay." When they are calling the pigs, they say, "gurrie, gurrie," or "hursh, hursh," or "dhugh, dhugh."
The house where the cows stay is called the byre. There are different ways for tying cows. Some people tie them with ropes. Some people put their heads between sticks called "bails". There are sticks across some byres called "raveltrees", and there are rigs on the poles called "runners." There are chains joined to these "runners", and these chains are tied round the cows' necks. There is a high place of ground where the cows stand. There is a hollow behind where they stand called the "groop."(continues on next page)- Collector
