  1. This story was told to me Mrs plunkett of knockbride. It is about her father Andrew Carroll.
    One night he was coming home after his cublie and he had his deck of cards in his pockets and when he was a little piece he found chains rattling around him and he was a man that was not afraid and he had a dog at his house and he came to meet him every night and came to meet him that night and kept him in company and when he went home and told his people they wondered and then he told him and had his supper eaten he went to bed and next morning he got up early and went out to his work and he stood up to look around him and he saw two little men coming towards him and they both spoke and said "good morning" and talked about the weather for a while and then the two men said to him" will you burn those cards that you have in your pocket" and he said he would if did not want to keep them and he went over and
