King Aoengus was father to St Colman who founded Kilcoleman and Kinnitty Abbeys.In 1207 the Castle of Kinnity was broken down and destroyed by Murtagh O'Bryan. The Anglo-Norman Invasion does not appear to have encouraged learning.
