- Ballyboy a parish in the Barony of Ballyboy includes the market and post town of Kilcormac. There are 8861 statute acres in the parish. It gives its name to the Barony and had formerly a castle. In 1690 it was garrisoned by six companies of Lord Drogheda's regiment of foot. It was attacked by a company of General Sarsfields army who were encamped between Limerick and Athlone. After a stubborn fight in which the garrison suffered great loss the attackers were driven away.
