  1. The first of November is called Hallowe'en many old customs and superstitions are connected with it in this district.
    Of all the countries Ireland is recognised as the most superstitious.
    The eve of the feast we indulge in games and pastimes.
    This night is carried out throughout the length and breadth of the land. Dipping for apples, roasting nuts, and the big suppers of barm bracks are usually the routine of the night. There are lots of old traditions revived which are connected with Hallowe'en such as looking into the mirror at mid-night
    and seeing your future partner.
    Another old belief is : At twelve o'clock get a ball of wool, and peg it down the nearest
