    Rushing tides on canal beds,
    Un-numbered treasured glow,
    His love and friendship pure as gold,
    No rust can dare destroy,
    His wisdom like a noble prince,
    Exalted to the rolry.
    As silver ore and iron rise,
    When melted in one mould,
    And as a mountain rock reveals,
    A native vein of gold,
    Thus in his strong good native mixed,
    And in his manner ran,
    A child - like gentleman that graced,
    And dignified the man,
    Unassuming and retiring,
    As the songbirds in the glade,
    The beauty of his learnings worth,
    No vanity displaye'd,
    The world's high praise was to his ear,
    No more than playful wind
    That fans a lordly tree but,
    Leaves no taunted sign behind.
    Oh : my missed friend in your love sublime,
    I felt a genuine pride,
    But since you're gone I muse forlorn,
