Granard. The owner a brave man named Philip Brady despatched a Hessian who was on guard at the Lake shore and swam across Lough Gowna to Enaghan in safety. His Companion a man named O'Reilly was shot crossing the Road. His remains were placed in a sheet and buried by women three days later. All the men being out on the hill sides. One of the woman who assisted at the Removal and burial of O'Reilly afterwards gave birth to a baby who had birth marks when born in the form of splashes of Blood on Both Arms. The Brave deeds of the women of Ballinamuck and the Longford Milita might be equalled but not excelled the world wide over whilst the names of Gunner McGee and Robin Gill shall live green in the hearts of the natives of the Historic villige of Ballinamuck.
