  1. Travelling through the estate of Major Smyth in Ballinafid we see some queer names on fields which were named when his father bought the estate about the year eighteen hundred.
    One of them is the "Keeper's Field" which was named because a house was built on it in which a game-keeper lived. After his death the house was knocked down and the field got the name of the "Keeper's Field".
