    they are sprayed with melted blue stone to keep off the blight. The weeds is removed by a grubber. In Autumn the potatoes are ploughed or dug out and stored in pits. The types of potatoes used are, Shamrocks, Epicures, Kerr Pinks, British Queen, and Arran Banners. When there are not many potatoes being sown a spade is used instead of a plough. The spades are bought in the the shop. Wooden ploughs are not used here now. The local people help one another by lending ploughs and horses.
