    Long ago in the town of Pottle-sea there lived a family called the Plunketts.

    Long long ago in the town land of Pottle-rea there lived a family called the Plunketts. There were seven sons who used to follow the hunt with seven white horses and on this day they were at the hunt there was a certain young lady at the hunt. I cannot say what her name was by apparently two of the Plunketts fell in love with her and one got jealous of the other. So returning on their way home they fell out with one another and started to fight on the road side on this side of Rooney's and one killed the other. So there was a cross erected on the right side of the road near Rooney's of Seymainstown and it is to be seen ever since. The other brother washed his hands in a hole of water outside the road ditch and there sprang up a well and it is there to this day. To the best of my opinion these Plunketts were friends of Oliver Plunketts. So after that the peiple used to say they could hear the galloping of the horses at night about twelve o clock.
    Long ago there was a man called Jones living in Jonesboro and that is why it was called the town land of Jonesboro but the right name is called Killaconia and after that Jones died a family came called the Bookers. They were natives of Ballyjamesduff. Their names were Thomas, Aley, Edward, and
