When you see flocks of field fairs standing in the field with their heads up 'tis a sign of frost. When you see a cat scraping a post and crying it is a sign of windy, wet weather. When you see a dog eating grass it is a sign of rain. It is a sign of hardship to see horses or cows looking for shelter. When the distant hills are looking near and the rocks and walls sweat and the soot falls down the chimney we know these are all signs of rain. When the dust sweeps along the road it is also a sign of rain. If the fog goes up it will be a wet day, but if it goes down it will be a fine day.
