    for guarding the fortress.
    There were caves on those moats, and a tunnel ran from one to an other. The King's men lived in these caves.
    When the King's power had decayed his men took the treasures which he had owned during his lifetime, and buried them under the moats.
    About two years ago men came at dead of night and excavated one of those moats. When they were some distance down, they saw something glittering in the moon light.
    "What is it!" cried one man.
    "The King's chest" replied another.
    At that they all ran, being overcome with terror, leaving the chest and spades behind them.
    Another story is told about a cave under the road on the hill of Tir-Ree. Every time you put your foot on a certain spot you can hear a hollow sound come from the hill beneath you. Well, that is the cave and many a time people started to excavate it, but in vain, the ground
