  1. Come all you lads and lassies
    Come listen unto me
And i'll sing yous a verse or two
    Of my sad destiny.
I went to Carrick (Carrickmacross) market
To a place they call 'the stand'.
For six long months I lived there
    With Brady of Kilan.
As I went home next morning.
    As you can plainly see.
He gave me eggs and bacon.
And he then shook hands with me.
You are welcome here dear Johnnie
And you are with a decent man
And a hard days work you will never get
    With Brady of Kilan.
