  1. A Story.
    One day there were two girls bittling (?) clothes at a river. And the Blessed Virgin and her Holy Son were crossing the fields and when she came to the river she asked one of the girls to carry the Child across the river for her. Then the girl said "Faith I will not bring him over do it yourself or leave it after you". Then the Blessed Virgin asked the other girl would she bring him over for her and the girl said she she would and welcome and bring over her self too and she told her to remain there until she would have the Child brought over and then she would bring over herself and so she did bring her over. Then the Blessed asked her Holy Son what will he give the girl that was so good to bring us across the river. Then the Holy Child answered "I will give her hard work and poverty in this world and she will have heaven in the next
