The old people at A & B conversation are long since dead.
Both their parents used to say the Rosary in Irish when they were young.
(A) This was an old colliery-man -carting coal to Templemore. He died about 15yrs ago and was then 92 yrs.Yellow meal stirabout was then his most favourite meal. When he wd arrive in Templemore he wd call for a quart of Buttermilk or else sour and a grinder (baker's bread shaped like (sketch) and cost then 1 1/2 D)The man's name was James Grace. He had no education and was over 21 years when he got his first pair of boots.
(B) Was very similar in manner to A but not so healthy, This man had some education could say the Lord's Prayer and Hail Mary in Irish and fairly correct Irish too.
His name Johnny Delahunty. Died about 25Yrs ago at 81 Yrs.
