    reaches the potato field he takes care to sprinkle the Holy Water on the four corners of the field and finishes by throwing the empty bottle in among the stalks
    On May Eve also he lights a fire - it is known locally as a "blast" - at the head of the potato plot. This to ensure that none of his neighbours will be able to interfere with his crop, not by stealing - - they are all honest people in this locality - but by another method which I shall describe under the head of "Pistógaí".
    On St Martin's Day (November 11th) some of the older people would prefer not to use their cars or carts. They say that on this day St Martin was crushed in a mill and that it is not right to have wheels turning
