    In district there is a castle known as Carrig O Gunnell...

    Story told me by Mr. James Weekes (Carrig) which I would like to see investigated by the Bealoideas Society.
    In this district there is a castle known as Carrig O Gunnell.
    Just on the opposite side of the district lies Mungret Abbey.
    This old man told me that there is an underground passage between the Castle and the Abbey.
    He pointed out to me a portion of the Carrig Road underneath which the passage is supposed to be constructed. If a person walks on it it rings with a hollow sound. This sound is not heard on any other portion of the road.
    There is another passage also supposed to connect the Castle with the Shannon. This is supposed to pass under a field at the back of the Castle.
    My informant tells me that a curious incident happened in this field about years ago.
