  1. Some years ago a man six feet four inches went out one night at midnight to catch a mare. In this particular field there is a fort which is believed by old people to be haunted. As he was about to catch the mare a little man about one foot and a half in height dressed in a green jacket and a red cap mounted the mare and galloped off shouting Ha! ha! Ha ha! I tricked you this time. The mare was heard galloping until she reached the bog of Coologue where he fell into a trench and was drowned. The little man was heard laughing and clapping his hands and the owner of the mare was heard Ochon! ochon the leprechaun killed my mare.
