    used to give light at night. They used to dip the rushes in grease of any kind and put a cord into them for a wick and light them instead of a candle.
    They used to bake griddles and eat them for food. Some people had different ways of giving light. They used to fill a bottle of oil, and put a cork in the bottle and make a hole in the cork, and put a which in the bottle and drive it out through the hold in the cork, and light it and it used to give light.
