    ditch, when he had passed a large white-thorn tree, he looked around and he saw a woman dressed in white walking long side him he was just going to say "Hello" when something stopped him. She walked with him as far as where another double-ditch crossed the one they were on. The crossing was a very dark spot called the black-corner There the woman turned to the left and vanished into the trees. As he said himself "You may bet I did not look back until I reached my own door"
